Calling Bullshit…

We live in a society where nothing is our fault. We can’t stop smoking, it’s okay, that’s not our fault because it’s just too hard to stop and we aren’t strong enough to stop all by ourselves so we have to buy the super expensive gum or whatever the newest product is. Feeling over weight? It’s okay, it’s not your fault…just Go out and spend hundreds, if not thousands of dollars on the newest surgeries, medicines, special diet food, and scientifically proven material that melts your fat away. Feeling ugly? It’s not your fault.. go out and once again spend thousands of dollars over your lifetime on surgeries and makeup and pills and shots….blah, blah, blah, blah…

Now before you get all offended and send me so ridiculous comment about whatever your offended about.. Let me explain.

I quit smoking all on my own, without buying any expensive gums or shots or medicines..I just decided one day that I needed to stop smoking not because I didn’t like it, cause I did, I quit because it was affected my singing voice and my voice was more important to me than the fact that I liked doing it. I just quit. Not enough for ya, I looked in the mirror one day and wasn’t pleased with the fact that I had gained weight and my clothes was getting tight. What did I do? I simply started to eat less and move more. I stopped buying all of the bad stuff at the store that I knew I would eat if it were in my house and I started back to the gym and worked my butt off. There are still days that I’m so sore that it hurts to sit down to pee. Still not enough? I’m 45. I’m not a young buck anymore. Instead of going out and buying all of the expensive anti-aging and get rid of those wrinkle concoctions or shots or surgery, I’ve just started to live a healthier life. I quit smoking and started eating better, exercising more and most importantly, I’ve started taking time for me. And I came to understand that I am worthy and good and beautiful. And it doesn’t matter that I’m not 25 anymore because it’s an honor to grow older, an honor that so many are denied.

Now, I’m not special by any means. I don’t have any special powers. This is what I figured out.

We are inundated with commercials and social media posts that hammers into us that we aren’t strong enough to quit our bad habits on our own. We aren’t good enough or pretty enough or smart enough to figure out that their messages are bullshit because they are simply trying to sell a product. And when we don’t feel good enough about ourselves we are going to be willing to pay whatever ridiculous amount they have decided to charge for whatever product they’ve told us we need to fix our habits and our lives because once again…say it with me..we aren’t strong enough, smart enough or not feeling worthy enough to do it on our own.

 I call bullshit.

Don’t buy into their bullshit. Don’t buy into their propaganda. You can do it. You can make a change if you really want to. You can.

 I Believe In You!
